TWO NEW VIDEOS, PHOTOS & MORE...

We have just uploaded two new films: “Battle of the Grades” and “Book Day: Black Like Me.” The films are short but capture the essence of the programs. “Battle of the Grades,” was a first for Ramaz and was an exceptionally enjoyable event. The “surprise” break-out was unique and the competitions fostered a feeling of community spirit that was remarkable.

The school-wide reading of the book, “Black Like Me,” was enriched by a day dedicated to listening to and learning from diverse artists, authors and teachers who led sessions and presented interactive programs that enabled us to understand the complex issues surrounding racial prejudice in America.

Please visit the films section and enjoy listening to our students as they enthusiastically speak about the programs. Short excerpts from the presentations offer the viewer an exciting sampling of these special events.

Photos of our recent chesed mission, on chol ha-moed Sukkot, to harvest vegetables and then work with this produce at the “Open Door,” a soup kitchen in Connecticut, are also posted. Enjoy seeing our great volunteers, all muddy and smiling.

Tune in to this week’s “Friday D’var Torah” to listen to an exceptionally meaningful message from Rabbi Stochel. With Election Day so close, the Rabbi drew upon Parshat Breishit to have us think about whether God’s majestic qualities define Him as a conservative, a liberal or …? and if we are “betzelem” then what should we aspire to be? We also Podcast (RSS) (iTunes) the weekly D’var Torah on Friday morning.

We hope that celebrating the chagim with your family and friends was special and we pray that this year will be a fulfilling and peaceful one for us all.
