YOM HA'SHOAH

We learned about one of the most famous Righteous Gentiles, Raoul Wallenberg who saved thousands of Hungarian Jews from the death camps. Ms. Louise Von Dardel, Wallenberg’s niece spoke about her Uncle’s upbringing, motivations and dedication to doing the right thing. She also shared the horrifying saga of Wallenberg’s “disappearance” at the hands of the Soviets.

Joshua Prager (’89) whose article, “The Wallenberg Curse,” was recently published in the “Wall Street Journal,” also spoke. Josh explained his motivations to seek out the truth about Wallenberg’s death. His investigative journey is an intriguing one and Josh’s tireless efforts to uncover the truth about Wallenberg’s disappearance are inspiring.

The short film clip, “The Mystery of Raoul Wallenberg’s Disappearance” presents a brief summary of Wallenberg’s heroic efforts to rescue thousands of Hungarian Jews and his mysterious abduction by the Soviets at the end of the War.

Soloists Daphna Weinstock (’10) and Talia Lefkowitz (’11) together with the Ramaz chorus presented an exceptionally beautiful rendition of the song, “Last Night.”
